24/7 Emergency Care Services for Common ER Treatments in Houston

Walk-in emergency care for acute conditions requiring immediate evaluation and treatment, 24 hours a day.

Home Conditions We Treat

Medically reviewed by the West Village ER Medical Team

West Village ER is open 24/7 to treat healthcare emergencies that can’t wait until tomorrow. If you have a health problem that feels urgent and you’re not sure where to go, please stop by or give us a call and one of our board certified emergency physicians will take care of you.

When you visit our facility, there’s no wait, we put you in a patient room immediately, and a doctor visits you shortly after.  The same doctor will diagnose and treat you in the same visit.  If you need imaging or labs, we will run them on-site with results within the hour.

We’re a standalone ER, which means we have the same capabilities as a hospital emergency room.

What We Treat at West Village ER

Our Emergency Medicine doctors evaluate and treat emergency conditions across every age group. Here’s a guide to the categories we diagnose and treat often.

Injuries & Trauma

  • Broken bones and fractures
  • Lacerations, deep cuts, and wounds requiring stitches
  • Head injuries and concussions
  • Burns from heat, chemicals, or electricity
  • Sprains, dislocations, and soft-tissue injuries
  • Eye injuries and foreign bodies

Cardiac & Respiratory

  • Chest pain and pressure
  • Shortness of breath and difficulty breathing
  • Heart palpitations and irregular heartbeat
  • Hypertensive crisis (dangerously high blood pressure)
  • Severe asthma attacks
  • Allergic reactions with breathing involvement

Abdominal & GI

  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Suspected appendicitis
  • Kidney stones
  • Uncontrolled nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Severe dehydration

Neurological

  • Sudden severe headache, the worst of your life
  • Dizziness, loss of balance, or inability to stand
  • Stroke symptoms: facial drooping, arm weakness, slurred speech
  • Seizures, including first-ever episodes
  • Sudden vision changes or loss
  • Numbness or tingling in the face, arms, or legs

Infections & Serious Illness

  • High fever in adults or children (especially infants under 3 months)
  • Severe flu or cold that is not improving
  • Urinary tract infection with fever or severe pain
  • Skin infections: cellulitis, abscesses, rapidly spreading redness
  • Signs of sepsis: high fever, confusion, rapid breathing, extreme weakness

ER care includes assessing symptom severity, using diagnostic testing when needed, starting immediate treatment, stabilizing the patient, and deciding whether the patient can safely go home or needs additional care.

When to Go to an ER vs. Urgent Care

West Village ER is a freestanding emergency room, not an urgent care. This is a distinction that matters when you are facing a serious health situation.

  • Physicians: Every patient is seen by board certified ER doctors.
  • Imaging: CT, X-ray, and ultrasound are available on-site when needed.
  • Lab: A full in-house lab helps us diagnose and treat during the same visit.
  • Hours: We are open 24/7/365, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Severity: We can treat serious symptoms that urgent care may not be equipped to manage.

If your symptoms involve chest pain, difficulty breathing, head trauma, stroke signs, or anything that’s getting worse fast, you need an emergency room not an urgent care.

What to Expect When You Arrive

  1. Check in. Walk up to the front desk. Our team registers you right away. No appointment needed.
  2. Triage and evaluation. An ER physician looks at your symptoms quickly. On-site imaging and lab work run during the same visit, so you’re not waiting on results from another facility.
  3. Treatment and discharge. The doctor goes over your results with you, treats you, and explains the next steps before you leave. Most patients are in and out without the wait of a hospital emergency room.

Frequently Asked Questions

What conditions does the ER treat?
As an ER, we treat minor, urgent and life threatening conditions. These include any sort of physical trauma, lacerations, injuries, chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe infections, broken bones, and abdominal pain.

What is the difference between an ER and urgent care?
Our emergency room has full diagnostics on-site, which includes CT, X-ray, ultrasound, and a complete labs. Our physicians are trained in emergency medicine and use these diagnostic tools to treat your emergency in the same visit. An urgent care handles minor illness and injury and usually can’t treat serious problems like chest pain, stroke, or major trauma.

When should I call 911 instead of driving in?
Call 911 if someone is unresponsive, can’t breathe, is having a major cardiac event, or can’t be moved safely. For anything else that can’t wait, walk in to West Village ER.

How long will my visit take?
Visit times depend on the condition, but as a freestanding ER we usually have shorter waits than hospital emergency departments. We run imaging and lab work on-site, which speeds up your evaluation and discharge.

Will I always be admitted after visiting the ER?
Many patients are treated and discharged, while others may need transfer or further medical care.

What diagnostic tools are available during ER visits?
Depending on symptoms, evaluation may include lab testing, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, EKG, and physician assessment.
